This is just a short article about HIM's new album, 'Screamworks'. Thought I'd post it anyway...
It’s nice that some things never change: Finland’s main tar-lung-rocker Ville Valo once again wrote an ode to Venus.
The telephone system doesn’t like Ville Valo. The man has hardly spoken a word and the bitch dies – reanimation unsuccessful. What can you do? (and then the author babbles about how he/she used the cell and that it cost about 16€ and he/she could understand like 50% of what Valo said and that she wants to scrap the phone as well as the cell and change job because now Word crashes as well.)
Well, it isn’t Ville’s fault. He is in a good mood and talks about love, magic and the new HIM-record. Love, again and again, love – did he fall into a bucket of aphrodisiac as a little Ville?
“I’m neither a political nor a religious person,” Valo explains. “So I write about something important to me: Love. Nobody hates love, love is universal and touches everybody.” Well, there are some people who renounce love at some point in their lives filled with bitterness.
“Fuck it.” Pardon? „Fuck it! Figuratively and literally, haha. (Since the article for love in german is female “Fick sie!” has a double meaning: fuck her [a person] and fuck it [love])
Seriously: There’s something magical about the chemistry between two people: Somebody enters a room and all of a sudden everything changes for you – your jaw drops and you fall on your knees. That doesn’t happen every day but if you’re patient it will happen. I think it’s annoying that many people do compromise in love and simply take the second choice. Love has much more magic to offer.”
(goes on with saying that the new album is again about love and that Valo has renounced alcohol and how Matt made the album sound a bit poppy.)
Uuups! “I’ve got nothing to do with Pop” Master Valo disagrees resolutely. “We just wanted to find the perfect balance between agressive Rock, melancholy Keyboards and harmonical singing.” The finnish quintet might have succeeded in this but 'Screamworks' won’t hit the jackpot. Anyway, Ville varies his triple-tared vocal chords like never before, whispers, screams, and growls like a masturbating reindeer (I’m sticking to the original text here!!! lol)
“This is the first album which resembles our live-sound where I like to experiment as well. It’s more expressive and emotional, so I can let myself go completely.” If you want to let yourself go together with Ville, buy the album. Or just call him for the same amount of money – 21 minutes should suffice.
